Saturday, May 6th, 2017  – Old Fort Tours:

Take a tour of the birthplace of Las Vegas with someone who works there.  This guided walk-through covers the timeline of settlement on the site and includes a discussion of historical visuals, artifacts, and natural resources..

WHEN: Saturday, May 6th, 11:00 a.m..to 2:00 p.m.

COST: Admission is just $1.00 per person for ages 13 and over, kids 12 and under are free! Cash or check only

 

 

 

Saturday, May 13th, 2017  – Blacksmith Demonstration:

Blacksmithing has been an important activity at the site of the Old Fort since 1855, and we are continuing this tradition!  Come view professional blacksmith Mike Barth as he demonstrates authentic blacksmithing techniques and discusses the history of this forgotten art.  

WHEN: Saturday, May 13th, 10:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.

COST: Admission is just $1.00 per person for ages 13 and over,                                                                                       kids 12 and under are free! Cash or check only

 

Saturday, May 20th, 2017  –Dutch Oven Cooking Demonstration:

Join us for what will likely be our last dutch oven cooking demonstration of the season.  Park staff will be cooking and sharing some tasty morsels using old-fashioned methods and ingredients grown in our pioneer garden.

WHEN: Saturday, May 20th, 9:00 a.m. to 12 p.m..

Saturday, May 27th, 2017  – History Talk: Mining and the Old Fort:

Like most deep-rooted historical sites in Nevada, the Old Fort has intimate connections with regional mining.  This ranger-led talk will explore the important relationships between the Old Fort and various mining sites in southern Nevada, with special attention given to the Mormon lead mining efforts on Mount Potosi and how they contributed to the ultimate failure of the Las Vegas settlement.
